The reception area is the 'hub' of the practice, the first and last point of contact with our clients and their pets. Our aim is to make this area as friendly and welcoming as possible, and to provide the very best service. To this end, any constructive ideas you may have to improve it will be welcome! - is the daily poop and litter patrol needed? - we do have a rota!

Records
The client and patient records are housed in an up to date computer database at reception.

Telephones
At reception we have two incoming telephone lines, normally manned by two members of staff during working hours. Extensions to prep room, office, etc are used to communicate with other practice members.
For any enquiries out of hours, simply phone (01229) 836516 and follow the instructions carefully. Please note that we are part of the 'Furness Emergency Veterinary Service'. This means that we share the out of hours workload with two neighbouring practices to provide you with a constant 24 hour emergency service. This service is something that the veterinary profession has long taken a pride in providing, albeit demanding on Veterinary Surgeons (and their families). Please use it for genuine emergencies only.

Appointments
We operate an appointment system to increase efficiency of time management and to reduce waiting times. At busy times there may be a short delay with your appointment time, or until one of our staff becomes available to help you. You can assist us by phoning first for such things as re-ordering prescriptions, so that we can have them ready for collection, and by being patient when you arrive! We regularly have to 'squeeze in' emergencies, please don't forget, one day it may be your pet!

Merchandise
We have available at reception a good stock of Hills pet foods. We have lifestage diets for all ages of cats and dogs, and various prescription diets which our vets can discuss with you as an aid to the treatment of some conditions of your pets. We also stock some rabbit foods. You will find a range of merchandise for dental home care, and also a variety of muzzles, boots and cat carriers for purchase.
Our reception staff are also fully trained to assist your requirements for routine flea treatments and worm control. This ensures that you are given the correct advice for your pet, and do not waste resources on inappropriate products being purchased without the benefit of advice.
Our wholesalers give us daily deliveries throughout the week, so most items can be ordered for next day delivery if not available from stock.

Notice Boards
The notice boards in reception, along with various displays, are updated on a regular basis. The lost and found section can be useful, please get a card from a member of staff. We are unable to use the notice boards for the purpose of buying and selling (including pets!)
The notice board as you come into reception is used by the local animal welfare charity, and the local branch of the RSPCA to advertise animals that are in need of good homes - please take a look!

General Queries and Problems
We try our best to help you out with any general queries you may have - from helping you to search for a pet through to any aspect of your animal's welfare. What we don't know we will endeavour to find out. Please feel free to pop in or phone at any time if we can be of assistance. If you need to speak to a vet in any detail, it is better to make an appointment so that someone is available to examine your animal and help you out.

TV's
The two TV's in the reception area display information about our practice and also about some of the products we sell.
The magazines are changed regularly in the racks - feel free to drop in your old ones!
