Dentistry
The place of dentistry in small animal veterinary practice has seen a spectacular rise in the last two decades. This is largely a result of practices providing 'proper' dental treatment for animals - 87% of cats and dogs over 3 years of age have periodontal disease, resulting in halitosis (bad breath), pyorrhoea (infected gums), pain and poor general health.
We give each patient a dental check at all routine examinations and will advise if dental work, such as a scale and polish or possible extractions, is required.
With our hi-tec dental equipment we can deal effectively with one of the most common problems in our patients. After all dental work we will advise on dental homecare, eg toothbrushing, specialized dental diets, dental chews and encourage regular dental checks. 'Prevention is better than cure', especially in our rabbit patients where dental disease is a very painful and sometimes life-threatening condition. Advice on husbandry and feeding is given to all our rabbit owners to help prevent the disease whilst we encourage all our patients to start dental homecare as young as possible.
